Listen up!

Here are the fundamental rules to follow when you're exercising to help your pain and Musculoskeletal problems.

  1. Exercises are like medicine - there can be lots of medicines to help with a problem, but everyone's body responds differently. I'm going to help you figure out which ones work for you.
  2. Exercising to help you pain is like training a puppy dog - before you start, things will be unpredictable and unreliable, but when you apply consistent training, everything gets better - your body will get more mobile, and you'll get less pain.
  3. Never push into pain, a rule I use with patients is that if you're pushing and causing more than 4 out of 10 pain, you're probably not helping.

For lots of exercises it's Good to have a high level of effort, but it mustn't hurt.

So listen to what your body is telling you.
